Happy New Year Friends! It’s been a little more than five years since I created my blog. Using personal stories and photographs I opened a small window into my life and shared it with you, my faithful followers. You responded to my posts with hearts and smily faces and our friendship grew. My blog posts... Continue Reading →
Endings and Beginnings . . .
I chose not to write about him, us, our relationship, during my time in Italy. A bit of my life I kept to myself, private, pure and sweet. We had an understanding, or so I thought. For me, a year of writing and adventure,. For him, life would continue in Los Angeles with a huge... Continue Reading →
Finding hope in rock bottom . . .
I walk into the first grade classroom of my newest teacher, her first year. A black line drawing of a turtle, its shell a patchwork of random designs and doodles, is projected on the large screen. Excited and smiling, she skips toward me and beams; It’s a directed art lesson. Across the classroom every desk... Continue Reading →
I choose . . .
Looking toward Catalina I see its faint silhouette in the summer haze. I wonder if the French speaking tourists lounging on the sand nearby know there is an island in the distance. To the untrained eye it does resemble a long and low hanging cloud on the horizon. While the skies overhead are beautifully blue,... Continue Reading →
Choose love . . .
Sitting at my kitchen table, warmed by the fire and sipping hot tea, I write my Christmas cards. I add just a few words of love as I believe my card says it all. Pictured with my grandson, I am smiling a smile that comes straight from my heart, happiness captured. I wish this joy... Continue Reading →
Here and now . . .
I spent many, many years dancing the same dance with my son. We had a pattern, a rhythm to our words and interactions. I counted on him to make mistakes and he counted on me to fix them, to rescue him. And like clockwork . . . I came through, every time. I convinced myself... Continue Reading →
Thank a teacher . . .
Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I loved everything about school, reading, math, music, friendships, and lunch time socializing. I was fortunate, for the most part, learning came easy for me. And when it wasn't easy, I had good teachers who helped me. I had many favorite teachers over the years. I admired... Continue Reading →
Another serving of gratitude . . .
The year following the passing of my parents was a tough one. Void of their love and laughter, life was dull and sad. My relationship with my boyfriend was tested as I relied heavily on his strength. I learned that he didn't have enough to share . . . so he left me for someone he believed needed... Continue Reading →
Grateful for a treasured memory …
David married into one of my favorite families, a family that I absolutely love and consider my family too. So, like them, he became family as well. Aside from a few extended visits, I saw him once, maybe twice a year, but we always picked up right where we left off, easy conversation and happy to see one another. With... Continue Reading →
Grateful for the little girl with glasses . . .
My daughter started wearing glasses when she was 9 months old, darling little cat-eyed bifocals. Her appearance drew a lot of attention as this was over 30 years ago and it wasn't very common to see some one so tiny in glasses. She was a chatterbox and could engage anyone in conversation, usually telling complete strangers the name and age... Continue Reading →
